Nancy Hennen

Nancy Hennen holds a Bachelor of Music from Mount Allison University, a Master's in Chamber Music Performance from McGill, and an MA in Music Criticism from McMaster. She was principal flutist of Symphony Hamilton for five years, and has appeared with the symphony orchestras of Niagara, Windsor, and Thunder Bay. She is active as a chamber musician, working with flutist David Gerry and guitarist Joseph Roy, and a variety of musicians in the New Music North and Consortium Aurora Borealis concert series in Thunder Bay. This winter she participated in the Brandon New Music Festival which celebrated the work of composer Nicole Lizée.

Nancy is a trained Suzuki flute teacher and has been an instructor at the Great Lakes Flute Centre and Hillfield-Strathallan College in Hamilton, Ontario. She has acted as woodwind adjudicator for music festivals in Kingston, Thunder Bay, and Sault Ste Marie. She has been a sessional instructor at both Brock and Lakehead Universities, teaching flute and courses in Music Appreciation, Conducting, and Woodwind Literature. She is currently instructor of flute at Brandon University's School of Music.

Kathy Byrne

Kathy is a native Winnipeg flautist. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree and Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Manitoba. Kathy studied flute with Laurel Ridd and Jan Kocman and has received masterclasses from Doug Stewart, Susan Hoeppner, Marina Piccinini, Robert Dick, Pat Spencer, and Camille Churchfield. Kathy teaches Band at Sturgeon Heights Collegiate.
